Because I know you have nothing better to do (yeah, right!) here's a suggestion for you: How about an Altair Clone Emulator for the PC? I don't mean an Altair 8800 emulator. I mean a faithful emulator of your Clone that can run your firmware. It would be good to be able to test things without risking the hardware.
You may feel free to laugh at me and call me names if you wish. :)

Would that just be a PIC simulator? There are a few of those out there. You might have to write a custom module to simulate the front panel though.
