Altair 8800 Clone on TV

Post by AltairClone »

Last night I was watching the "Jobs vs Gates" episode of the NatGeo series "American Genius." To my surprise, at 3:17 into the episode, there's a full screen shot of the Altair Clone shown as "the" Altair 8800. Hmmm, wonder if I'm owed some royalties?

Congrats! You've made the bigtime! Did they show the back or side of the unit? If not then how did you know it was a Clone?

A mother knows her child :)

I can tell from the bezel around the front panel, the font of the front panel silkscreen, the relative shade of the front panel to the blue bezel, the color of the off LEDs, and the front panel switches.

Congratulations! It must be quite an honor to see your creation out there in the wild, taking on a life of its own.

I've seen Pirates of Silicon Valley so many times, it's still my favourite dramatization. :) The sound track is pretty Groovy too :). Ok not related but just wondering what everyone's favourite apple/microsoft movie is? :) My favourite part of the NatGeo show was the brief glimps of the Altair. I tried to freeze frame it as they sweep up the back of the unit before loading in basic, hoping to see the serial number, but the camera moves to fast. :) It would be interesting to know who lent their Altair Clone for the filming :)

Cheers.

My favourite is Pirates of Silicon Valley, what's yours?

It sure wasn't me! "I'll give you my Clone when you pry it from my cold, dead hands!" - Slogan of the NRA (Neat Repros of Altairs)

I'll have to give it a watch via my Roku. I know that the one used was not mine. I'm having why to much fun to let it out of my site.

wow neat.

3 days ago the national television (RAI) came to my place for an interview.
My Altair clone was right behind me, the interviewer didn't ask what it was, but he was puzzled.

Just finished watching the NatGeo American Genius Gates vs Jobs. Interesting program. And it is cool to see the Altair "Clone" representing the raal thing. They also had the later model of the Altair just before the Clones.
