Help with minicom

Hi, I'm using minicom on Ubuntu to communicate with the altair. I have some problems sending tap files to the altair to load the BASIC tapes.
when I try to send a tape file minicom crashes. I don't have problems with other kind of files using Xmodem or Ascii.
Any help is appreciated
