Early issues of MITS "Computer Notes" cite the Altair Software Library (14 programs as of July 1975).
Is there an archive of these programs?
Notably, Kill the Bit is listed in the September issue...
#92751
Author: Dean B. McDaniel
Length: 23bytes
"Object: To kill the rotating bit. If you miss the lit bit another one at that sense switch position will turn on, now leaving you two bits to destroy."
...along with a two-byte memory clearing program by Ward Christensen.

Re: Altair Library
I don’t know of an archive of that library, but here are links to the two programs you mention…

Re: Altair Library
Thanks, Mike!
I wonder if the software library is out there somewhere in some sort of archive. At least the catalog is on archive.org.

I haven't looked in every nook and cranny of your extensive site, and I missed the "miscellaneous" folder. I was pleased to see the memory test program you use in the 8800c firmware was from the Vector Graphic ROM. I hadn't been able to ID it, but I did disassemble part of the code so I could modify it to work with an 88-SIO rev 0/1. (I see a quick hack to the serial board I built that will allow me to modify to run as one channel of the 88-SIO2.)
Glad to see most of DeRamp.com is on the Wayback Machine, too.
