Terminal Program for CP/M 3.0
Hello, I recently got a vintage US Robotics 3453c Serial Modem. I would like to be able to use it with the Altair to connect to BBSes. I cannot seem to find a terminal program that works for the Clone, specifically CP/M 3.0 would be ideal. Any recommendations? I would prefer to use it with the 2SIO port off the cassette interface since I am using the second serial port as a Line Printer.
Sincerely,
Daniel

Under CP/M, people would typically use BYE, KERMIT, MODEM7, MEX, etc. to connect to a BBS and have the ability to download and upload files. If you want the program to actually control the modem for you, an overlay was typically required for your particular modem and if an external modem, the particular serial port hardware connected to the modem.

Re: Terminal Program for CP/M 3.0
Hello Mike!
Long time no see! I have tried BYE, but the software appears to crash CP/M 3.0. Using CP/M 2.2, it does appear to be semi-functional (depending on which command is used may cause the system to crash, but it is more stable) I have tried all the serial port options in the software, but I cannot seem to get a proper connection to the modem properly. I recall trying to use Kermit in the past, but cannot recall why I could not get it to work. I can try that again and let you know. I cannot seem to find a good copy of Modem7 or MEX that is compatible with Altair's CP/M, only for Apple II, Commodore, etc. I also tried IMP, but it is configured for a different serial port on the Altair. I cannot seem to find the original Assembly file that allows me to change that.

Here’s an Altair CP/M 2.2 disk image with a compatible Kermit version on it. With this, I can transfer files using the Kermit protocol running TeraTerm on a PC, for example. I haven’t tried the terminal function in it.
