Adapting S100 to 6502

Postby BillO » June 22nd, 2022, 7:37 pm

Has anyone had any experience adapting the S100 bus driven by an 8080A to a 6502 compatible bus?

I have developed a universal bus for 6502 computers and would like to adapt it to the Altair 8800c. I have a ton of I/O cards developed for this bus and it would be GREAT to be able to use them 8800c.

Here is the bus adapted to the OSI C1P/600 Superboard:

Here it is adapted for the Vixen. An SBC using the 6502 and designed along the lines of the Arduino and other such plug-in controllers:

And here it is incorporated into the expandable Jaguar:

With a few minor exceptions (mostly speed related - the OSI runs at 1MHz the Vixen/Jaguar can run up to 16MHz), any I/O card designed for one machine should work in the others.

Dude, that's so cool!

My first computer was a Synertek System's Sym-1. So I have an affinity for the old KIMs, Syms, PETs and Apples.

Thanks!

I still have a SYM-1. I don't use it much anymore but I do take it out an play around on it once in a while
