There's a link to the file a few posts back. You can find it in the second post on the second page of this thread.

What material did you guys use to print your cages?

I used nylon, 'cause I had my guides printed at Shapeways and selected "Versatile Plastic."

Hello! I'm new here and just about to start a clone build. I'm going to be ordering 3D prints of the original supports but I'm not sure what material is best. Would ABS be a good material for these parts?

I guess I should have read the whole topic before posting my question about which material to use. Sounds like nylon worked well, so I'll try using that.

Since I'm terrible at editing 3D files, is there anyone here who could extend Walt Perko's card cage design to fit the 18-slot motherboard? Besides the length, the difference is that there's no slot spaced differently for an IMSAI so all slots are evenly spaced.

In order to use this board in the Altair Clone case, I had to trim the left-hand FP gusset to accommodate the board's increased width. Then I could mount it using the 9-slot holes with additions for the extra holes due to the board's width.

Suggestion: Grab the existing right and left models and use an online STL editor to cut 'em down to six slots. Then make three of the left and three of the right models to support your 18-slot backplane. You don't even really have to splice three copies of the six-slot STL model - Just have three physical copies made of each part separately.

I know you said you weren't fond of editing 3D files but this is a minimum-effort solution. And if you upload your modified model, it'll be a useful edition to the card cage models available for the Altair 8800c.

Unfortunately, the 18-slot board has no IMSAI holes. If I mount to the Altair holes, cards won't fit. There's going to be more work than just increasing the number of slots.

I can't seem to download from that site. I click on the green FREE button but nothing happens.
