I got a chance to try this sooner than I expected. Unfortunately, I can’t duplicate your problem - it’s all working fine for me even when I exactly duplicate your steps. Are you running the 56K version or did you regen for a different RAM size? How much RAM do you have and what are you using for RAM?

Sorry for the late reply Mike.

No, I didn't change the RAM size.

I think it has to do with my USB to serial device. It's a CH340 device so I'm having to use an old Windows 8 driver for it. Not a good situation.

I have others somewhere and tomorrow I will dig them out and try them.

Thanks for your efforts Mike! I'll let you know the results.

OKay, I triied Serial to USB modules based on bot CP2102 and FT232BL chips and both of them work fine.

Problem solved. Don't use the CH340 chips.

Thanks for looking into it Mike and sorry to have used up you time.

Odd that it would exhibit such a specific problem and not a more randomized failure pattern.

I think it was data going in one direction that was effected. Since I was able to run MBASIC and any other program (like Zork) reading did nto seem to be a problem, but writing was where the failure(s) resulting in corrupt file when copied.
