Tetris for 8800

Postby phatchman » December 29th, 2022, 4:51 am

Hi All,

I was looking for a small project for the Altair to learn 8080 assembler, and the end result is this Tetris clone. If you'd like to try it, the source and executables are available for download on GitHub https://github.com/phatchman/Altairtris

There are a few different versions, depending on whether you want to run under CP/M or not. I've also made a DAZZLER version, which is my favourite one to play.

This is my first attempt at writing something with any flavour of Intel assembler. So I'd definitely welcome any feedback on my code or the game itself. It will also compile under CP/M ASM if anyone wants to build it on the Altair.

Hope you enjoy!

Just played with this on my Altair this morning. Great work! I like it better using just # characters

Thanks everyone. I'm glad you got some enjoyment out of it.

I was surprised it didn't already exist given that it is relatively simple to program. (Well at least I couldn't find a version for any flavour of CP/M). I guess the timing didn't really line up.

I think the DAZZLER version would have totally blown people away in 1977.
