Altair for industrial use

Postby Twayne5 » September 10th, 2019, 8:13 pm

Has anybody ever heard of an Altair being used to run automation or machine tools back in the day?
I have looked around the internet but can't find any examples of this being done. I would love to hear about any examples of it.

Thanks,
Travis

I used to work for Extel Communications (they were competition for Teletype) in Canada back in the late 70s and early 80s. We used an Altair with double disk system and a vacuum pin bed to run diagnostics on sick Model E logic boards. When things were slow we'd play games on it such as chess or Wumpus (a sort of D&D adventure ported over from the PDP11).
