Z80?

Mike,

The current clone emulates the original Altair with the 8080 uP. Any thought to having Z80 capability? In looking through the old software archives, there is a lot of Z80 available, not so much 8080.

Adding the Z80 instruction set is certainly something that could be incorporated into the Altair Clone one day. It would be a 2 MHz Z80 instead of the more common 4 MHz configuration.

Regarding old software: The majority of the huge CP/M software archives are 8080 compatible, even though the most common machines of the CP/M boom were Z80 based. Unless you know for sure a piece of software required a Z80, I'd recommend trying the software and seeing if it runs on the 8080 CPU.
